Abstract
In the context of rapid development of urbanization in China, the system of Post-Occupancy Evaluation(POE) is a necessary solution to avoid large scale reconstruction in big cities. However, the existing assessment technique only focuses on evaluating building performance not on user behaviors and degree of satisfaction. This paper tries to take cognitive theories of space as theoretical fulcrums to link theories and methods of POE with that of space syntax and to transform cognitive studies of space into quantitative analysis. Thus, the service condition of built environment and degree of satisfaction of users will be analyzed more intuitively and quantifiably.Furthermore, assessment mechanism of built environment will be improved.
